Welcome to the other side of this blog: Hallyu aka Korean music and dramas.
This is my first time reviewing/reacting something so please bear with me!- I chose to do BAP’s 어디니? 뭐하니? (Where are you? What are you doing?) for my first review because it came out today and also because I’m a fan of BAP~
Right. So the first thing here are my thoughts as I was watching the MV. I was typing as I was watching so they’re kind of everywhere, but if you watch the MV while reading the comments, they match up, I promise~
hahaha i was there before them
jack johnsonish? amurica sounding lol
nice acoustic sound
one direction styling and colours lol
ahahaha the nerdy popping out thing
so typical western
THEY EVEN HAVE TEA
they really pulled out all the typical things didn’t they
what’s up with the glasses?
dude he’s right in front of you why you need a telescope
like one thing
wow bang’s rap actually works in this context?
what a creepy doll himchan…
youngjae’s voice works really well here
so wait is jongup or zelo whistling tho?
lol that harmonica ending tho…MURICA
creative way to write the title~
Alrighty then! I think that it was in general a refreshing song, but it reminded me a lot of Jack Johnson’s song ‘Better Together’, most likely because of the similar acoustic, laid-back sound. Both songs seem like a day when you’d be in a hammock with a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, enjoying life. Good feelings, you know?
Speaking of, listen to the Jack Johnson song for yourself and see if you see some similarities (at least in the feel of the song):
One thing that popped up several times as I was watching the MV was ‘Wow, they look a lot like 1D.’ Now, let me clarify, this does NOT mean that they copied 1D or that they’re worse then them or any other negative thoughts towards either group. This just means that they had similar ideas, and you know, “great minds think alike.”
I really feel like BAP pulled out all the typical cute movements for this song too; the synchronized head bobbing, the popping out from behind signs thing, the exaggerated walking…It was cute and worked for most of the members, just sometimes I was wondering if Bang Yongguk was slowly dying in the inside?-
Speaking of the leader, I was surprised that his rapping worked in this context. Well, okay, I shouldn’t be TOO surprised because it worked in “Coffee Shop” but still, I was taken off guard when his deep voice came in the middle of Youngjae and Daehyun’s buttery vocals.
Overall, it was a good song. I’m not as mind blown from it as I was when BAP came out with “Coffee Shop”: and maybe it’s because it sounds like Jack Johnson’s song. But it’s pleasing to listen to and I’m sure it melted every BABY out there.
